Pumpkin Patch

Sorry for the delay in posting!  Time has gotten away from me and I'm behind.  You will see several new posts in the next few days.  Enjoy!!

We went to the Pumpkin Patch in Lafayette a few weeks ago.  We pet several different animals, shelled corn, picked out a pumpkin, rode the train, had a snack, and played on the INFLATABLES!  They were probably the kiddos favorite thing there. haha.  Here are several pictures to capture the day.

What family do I belong in??

The kiddos created houses to hold their number families.  They split into groups, some on their own, and created a house.  Then, we got together as a group and decided where each number should live.  This is a way I'm hoping will help the kiddos understand the numbers past 10!  Please encourage recognition of these numbers.  You can create your own small houses on paper and write numbers on small pieces of paper.  Example: Start with just the teens and 20 family.  Say where does this number go?  Then, move onto the higher numbers.
*A key point is for them to recognize that all teen numbers begin with a 1, all of the 20 family begin with a 2, and so on.

He chose to work alone:)  Mr. Independent!

Don't worry...I will post the Pumpkin Patch pictures soon.  I took way too many and need to sort through them:0

Fall Festival

Our Fall Festival turned out to be successful!  From our booth to all of the fun activities that were offered, the kiddos definitely enjoyed.  Thank you to all who participated in helping with our booth!  We really appreciate your support and love for our class and school!!  Here are a few pictures...enjoy:)

This was my Willow House booth I sat up at the Fall Festival.  I enjoyed meeting people as well as seeing all the kiddos!  The candy corn was very popular at my booth:)

Thank you so much, Hayden, for all of your hard work in making our booth happen.

I thought our booth was one of the cutest ones there!

My husband actually made this tree for our booth.  I thought it turned out well!

Book Buddies

Every year we have book buddies from 3rd grade who come read to our Kindergarten classes.  Last week I decided to take some pictures.  They are so sweet.  My class really enjoys their buddy coming in to read to them.  They get so quiet and think it's such a big deal.  Too cute!

Hopefully I didn't miss anyone!

Circle Time

So, I had to post this one.  We have a calendar helper each week and on this particular day I decided to step back and observe, while snapping a few shots.  At this age, the kiddos love to be in charge or feel like they are an adult.  They love role play, which is why I have these particular jobs.  I thought this picture was priceless.  She's in charge and they are all listening.  They all know what to do.  If the leader messes up, the other kiddos tell her.  So cute!  Enjoy:)

Important Reminders

1.  School picture forms are due tomorrow:)
2.  Your child has now completed the Letterbooks C, O, G, and A.  We are beginning letter D tomorrow.  Please continue to review these sounds and make sure they recognize the letters.
3.  In Math, your child should be close to recognizing all numbers 1-10.  We began time to the hour on Friday.  They are eager to understand this concept.  Please make them aware of time in any way you can right now.

For example, ask them:

  • What time is it when they are going to bed, waking up, leaving for school, arrive at school?
  • Talk about how long it takes to get to school from your house.
They know that we start school at 8:00, go to recess at 9:00, go to specials at 9:30, and leave school at 12:00.  They almost all know how to read a digital clock.  We are talking about the short hand goes on the hour you are talking about and the long hand goes "straight up" on the 12.  Just use anyway you can to keep them aware!

Watch out though, they might keep you on your toes if you are running late:) haha.

Have a great week!  FYI, I will be scheduling conferences toward the middle to end of the month to inform you of your child's progress thus far.

Apples

Here are a few pictures from the past few days of us celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday and studying about apples.  Enjoy!

We sorted them into colors.  We also counted our apples, talked about which color we had more of, and how many were left over after each child took one.
We created a pattern with our apples.

Apple picnic at the carpet:)

We created our own ten apples up on top after reading the book.
